Cr-48 Shipments to Resume, Applications for Pilot Still Open
Posted on 11. Jan, 2011 by Daniel Cawrey in NewsSince late December, Chrome OS notebooks have not been going out as part of Google’s Chrome OS Pilot Program.Yesterday, I speculated about some of the reasons why shipments from Google of the Cr-48 to test users may have stopped. Many who have not received one have started to wonder if they’ll ever get a chance to test one of these machines prior to a commercial release.Yesterday, Google Chrome ....Google Announces the Cr-48 Chrome OS Netbook for Early Adopters

Share/BookmarkVideo: Hands-on With the Jolibook
The Jolibook is made by the French cloud OS company Jolicloud. It’s intended to be a “cloud” operating system, which is a bit of a dubious distinction given that you can install native apps on it that are compatible with Ubuntu. The netbook runs an Intel Atom processor, has a 250GB hard drive, 1GB of memory, and a 10.1″ screen. All of that for $380. You can get in the UK very soon, but no word on a U.S. launch yet. Still, it’s being released b....OS X Arrives on the Cr-48
You give a bunch of developers and early adopters a prototype device that they can jailbreak, and what do you get? People throwing their favorite operating system on the device. Now, I don’t think that this OS and the Cr-48 could possibly get along very well (it’s probably a syrupy slow experience) but someone had to do it. Lilliputing is also reporting that someone has also been able to run both Windows and OS X on a Cr-48. No, not at the s....The Future of ARM and Chrome OS
While the Cr-48 comes with an Intel Atom processor and devices from Acer and Samsung may also come with Intel chipsets, it cannot be forgotten what the potential is for Chrome OS on an ARM processor may do for the platform. Sure, Intel has the netbook/laptop market cornered, but Chrome OS will likely not be slotted into that market specifically. Other form factors will likely emerge, just as Google has envisioned at the Chromium site.Granted,....Video: Intel Shows Off a Cr-48 at CES
Intel sure is excited about being able to show off this Cr-48 at CES. The initial commercial release of Chrome OS will be with Intel Atom processors, although the platform will also be supporting ARM as well. One of the things that the rep touts in the video is the eight hour battery life. Has anyone’s battery actually lasted that long? Mine hasn’t. It has been noted today that there have been some issues related to the use of Flash in the pilot Cr-48 laptop Google is giving out to a select few early adopters. Specifically, users have reported problems with video playback on large sites like YouTube, one of the primary places where Flash technology is used in order to stream video.Because of this, Adobe’s senior director for engineering Paul Betlam took to their corporate blog and declar....Razer Switchblade: The Future of PC Gaming?
Fresh from its debut at CES 2011, the Razer Switchblade is turning heads and making people rethink what “PC gaming” means. This Intel Atom-powered handheld mini notebook promises to deliver PC games running on Windows 7 and still run those games at 30 frames per second or more!Razer is a company that has long been known to PC gamers as a manufacturer of some of the best PC gaming accessories. However, at this year’s Consumer....Google Announces the Cr-48 Chrome OS Netbook for Early Adopters
