A report surfaced over the holidays about Logitech suspending production of its Google TV product called the Revue just a few months after its first release. Apparently the company is planning to see what Google will have in store for its television platform with a software update that is expected to arrive in 2011.The pairing of Logitech, a maker of mice and other peripherals, Intel and Google to create the first Google TV product that runs ....New Google TV Products Delayed, Problems with Software?
The New York Times is reporting that several hardware partners working on Google TV devices are being asked to delay any product unveiling that might have happened at CES. This is due to the fact that Google wants to be able to update the software that runs these devices. Google TV currently lacks an application marketplace and has received a lukewarm reaction since its launch. It seems like the platform is starting to have trouble selling dev....More on the Samsung Sliding 7
By far the most impressive device I have seen at CES would be the Samsung Sliding 7. It’s a tablet/laptop combination that is really a great form factor for Chrome OS. Of course, this version is running a version of Windows 7 that supports touch. The screen is around 10″ and Lilliputing reports the device will be priced at $699, which seems reasonable to me. Subtract your obligatory Windows licensing fee, and you’re looking at a device that m....Samsung Sliding PC 7 is Perfect for Chrome OS
I’ve been using the Cr-48 long enough to realize something very important about it. The device is awesome for picking up with the web on the go, but the greatest form factor would be a tablet/laptop configuration. This way, you get the best of both worlds. You have a tablet and also something to easily write with, something that for me is important because I write prolifically.Samsung introduced at CES today a product called the Sliding PC 7.....Daily: Links for 1/6/11
Flash sandboxing has been temporarily put behind a flag in the Beta version of the browser with an update yesterday. There is now an extension that allows you to open your Chrome webapps from the right-click context menu.No joke: Slate’s Farhad Manjoo makes the case why CES is the most worthless week in technology.Although Facebook is the leader in social, Google can still augment their services with their many social acquisitions.Google TV wi....The Samsung Google TV Devices
I write about Google TV here because it uses Chrome. Any commercial product that is using the browser deserves some space here because it certainly is worth the while to use because of its speed. I think it has a future in a lot of different devices. There’s been a lack of updates on Google TV recently; the main factor in this is reportedly because Google is working on a software update to make the platform more usable to the general public. M....Video: Intel Shows Off a Cr-48 at CES
Intel sure is excited about being able to show off this Cr-48 at CES. The initial commercial release of Chrome OS will be with Intel Atom processors, although the platform will also be supporting ARM as well. One of the things that the rep touts in the video is the eight hour battery life. Has anyone’s battery actually lasted that long? Mine hasn’t. Share/Bookmarkthechromesource Daily: Links for 1/4/11
